Medicare in Chesterfield

Medicare notes for Chesterfield

Chesterfield had 49,999 residents in the 2020 census, from the shops of Chesterfield Valley to the older streets near Faust Park. St. Luke's Hospital on South Woods Mill Road is the hospital in town, and it also runs urgent care and outpatient sites around West County. Mercy Hospital St. Louis and Missouri Baptist Medical Center, part of BJC, are both a few miles east on Ballas Road.

Each of those can land in a different set of Medicare Advantage networks. If you see a St. Luke's family doctor and a Mercy specialist, a plan has to include both, or you could pay out-of-network prices. Ask about the hospital, too, not just the doctor. A Medicare Supplement covers any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare, with no network and no referrals, and pairs with a stand-alone Part D plan. If you travel, a Supplement goes with you across the country.

Already on a Supplement and watching the premium climb? Missouri gives you a yearly chance to apply with another company for the same plan letter, within 30 days before or after your policy anniversary, without health questions. We can compare what Plan G or Plan N costs from the companies we work with in your ZIP code. Prices for the same letter can differ a good deal from one company to the next, while the benefits stay the same by law.

For services, Aging Ahead runs a West County senior center (636-227-3882) and Meals on Wheels for St. Louis County. The Social Security office on Fern Ridge Parkway in Creve Coeur is the closest one, and appointments cut the wait. The St. Louis County Library lends Chromebook and hotspot kits and mails books to homebound readers. For free counseling, call Missouri SHIP, and for a plan review that checks your doctors by name, call us.

Common questions

What Chesterfield callers ask us

Is St. Luke's Hospital in Medicare Advantage networks?
Some plans include it and some don't, and that can change from year to year. Before you enroll, check St. Luke's and each of your doctors in the plan's directory, or give us the names and we'll check for you.
Can I move my Medigap plan to another company in Missouri?
Yes, once a year. Missouri lets you apply with a different company for the same plan letter you have now, within 30 days before or after your policy's anniversary date, and the new company can't turn you down for health reasons. Moving to a different letter outside that window usually means answering health questions.
When can I change my Medicare plan in Chesterfield?
Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7, and anyone with Medicare can switch then. People already in a Medicare Advantage plan get one more change from January 1 to March 31, during Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment.
