Medicare plans are sold by county, so the plans offered in St. Charles County can differ from the ones across the river in St. Louis County. If you moved here from the other side, don't assume last year's plan still fits. With Medicare Advantage, check that St. Joseph or St. Peters is in network, along with any St. Louis specialist you still see. A Medicare Supplement covers any doctor who takes Medicare on either side of the river, so a trip to a Barnes-Jewish specialist in the city stays covered.

Getting to appointments takes a little planning, since Metro's bus and train network mostly serves the St. Louis side of the river. Common questions

What St. Charles callers ask us

Are Medicare plans in St. Charles the same as in St. Louis County?
Not always. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are approved county by county, so the list and the prices can differ across the river. A move to a new county can also open a Special Enrollment Period to pick a new plan.
Can I move my Medigap plan to another company in Missouri?
Yes, once a year. Missouri lets you apply with a different company for the same plan letter you have now, within 30 days before or after your policy's anniversary date, and the new company can't turn you down for health reasons. Moving to a different letter outside that window usually means answering health questions.
When can I change my Medicare plan in St. Charles?
Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7, and anyone with Medicare can switch then. People already in a Medicare Advantage plan get one more change from January 1 to March 31, during Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment.
